A beautiful sunny evening greeted players at Helsbys popular Golfer non Golfer event. Usually called Kings and Queens the format is simple, Golfers play their shots until on the green where the non Golfers then put out. Into its 4th year now the event is ever growing in popularity and gives the WAGS, husbands and others an insight into our great game and why it is so damn addictive.
On the night the team of John and Bev Maddocks took home the spoils with a magnificent 38 pipping the father and son pairing of Brian and Robin Stott. In the best putter competition (non golfers only obviously) the Captains good lady, Hazel Cunniffee, took top spot with a better than most golfers 16 putts for the back nine.
There has been an obvious increase in the non golfers putting practice before these events but this will always be countered by others enjoying a glass or two of liquid refreshment as they stroll around Helsbys beautiful surrounds. Whatever the outcome or strategy long may this event continue and prosper.
If anyone is interested in future events ask in the Pro Shop for more details of when and how to enter, highly recommended.
