OOM & Eclectic Update – 11/06/16

So more rounds and more movers since our last update, where do things stand?

OOM

An extremely close Order of Merit is being contested this year with just 9 points separating the top 5.  Big mover of late due to his Centenary success is Mark Stonley who has moved to within 1 point of leader Simon Pay, both are being hunted by ever improving Lee Horton who sits 1 point further back.  our newly returned Helsby mascot Scott Butler is sitting pretty in 6th spot well within striking distance as we start a long set of OOM events.  One things for sure this year looks like being the closet run OOM and could go right to the wire.

Eclectic

The eclectic is a golfers best score recorded at each hole over the summer season.  This is a net event so their best total gross score minus their 5/8th handicap allowance gives the eclectic score.

Big hitting Phil Starkey takes command of the overall board with his combined 62 less his allowance of 5 giving him an eclectic of 57, his bogey free card also contains an eagle at 7. Noel Robertson the South African steady man is tucked in nicely behind Starkey and trains by just 0.87.  Robertson still has 2 bogeys to improve on, all be it on the SI 1 5th and SI 4 17th,  however is enjoying the par 3s this year with birdies at 6 and 18!  Dangerous Dave Langley is 1.12 further back perhaps due to the fact he has played 6 rounds compared to the others 7 rounds.  Langley has no bogeys to wipe, his Faldo like card, although very good, contains too few birdies to take over the lead.

Remember even when your score is gone, the dream of breaking par or even an outside chance of hitting the buffer zone faded , play hard as no matter your overall score your eclectic scores can always be improved!
