The August medal proved to be a very competitive Saturday. Even though the CSS was 71, the first above par for nearly two months, there were plenty of quality scores returned.
Claiming division one on a CPO, for those with handicaps up to and including 11, was Charlie Fletcher with a 72 – 5 = 67. Jon Sharpe was beaten into 2nd with a 70 – 3 = 67 with Simon Pay in 3rd with a 70 – 2 =68.
Division Two, for those with handicaps ranging from 12 – 16, was similar in its competitiveness. John Cheesbrough taking top with another fine round returning an 82 – 12 = 70 beating Frank Whitfield via CPO after his own 82 – 12 = 70. Simon Ness was third with 84 – 12 = 72.
Division Three saw players competing with handicaps between 17 – 20. Chris Stubbs claimed top spot here with an 86 – 18 = 68 three clear of 2nd place, after a CPO, Mike Branigan who returned a 90 – 19 = 71. Tony Ward took 3rd spot with his own 88 – 17 = 71 score.
Division Four, contested by players with handicaps of 21 and above, was claimed by Stephen Davis who returned a 99 – 27 = 72 one clear of Simon Costins 98 – 25 = 73. Claiming 3rd on CPO was John Burke shooting 97 – 23 = 74.
The top three in each division have qualified for the season ending EJ Harding Trophy. The Trophy sees all players who finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their division playing off in a 18 hole medal competition. This is drawn competition with the list of qualifiers posted soon who will then need to indicate their availability for the day.
