Finals Day – 2016

scratchFor the first time in a long time every finalist in all the knockouts is unique and all available to contest their final on the same day.  This means that we are able to host a full Finals day on Sunday 18th September.  All knockout finals will be contested on what is certain to be a great competitive Sunday with games and roars shared among those showing their support for fellow competitors in a spectating capacity.  The finals of all the knockout competitions at Helsby are special, all the finalists deserve the support of members in what is a proud day for anyone who has reached a final.  So come on down and cheer on and support all those that have achieved a final spot.

The finals to be contested:

Club Championship

The Club Championship is contested with two 8:30am semi-finals with the winners meeting in the afternoon final teeing off at 1:30pm.  The finals will be contested by Tom Rowland, Simon Pay, Alan Rigby and Jon Sharpe.

Challenge Cup

One of the most coveted and prestigious titles at Helsby sees John Cheesbrough taking on Charlie Fletcher.  Both players have fought hard over the season against many quality opponents and rightly take their place in the final to be contested over 18 holes.  The game will tee off at 1:50pm and  is sure to provide good golf and a hotly contested match, well worth following for those spectating.

Challenge Plate

Alongside the Winter League the Challenge Plate rightly takes its place as the pinnacle of pairs Golf at Helsby.  Brian McNamara and Joe Gleave have complemented each other all Summer defeating team after team to book their place in the final showdown.  As yet their opponents have not be confirmed as Dean Letford and Nathan Kennedy have still to play their Semi-Final against Alan Paynter and Simon Ness.  Both the Semi-finalists have taken out some big scalps and past winners on their way ensuring whichever partnership reaches the final match will make it a tasty affair.  The final will tee of at 2:10pm and is recommend viewing with all players in a rich vein of form.
