Success for Brian Stott and Pete Duffy with a formidable 43pts. 23 pts on front nine looked wasted with a blip on the 10th but steady play got the score back to level two’s and a final flourish with 3pts on 17 and 18 gave a 20 pts total for the back nine.
In second place low man Mark Stoneley and visitor Adrian Bannon Coventry Golf Club with 42 pts on a card play off with Paul Kennedy and Jack Carrol also 42 pts in third place.
Fourth was Jeff Hughes and Brian McNamara with 41 pts challenging for top place until the final few holes when a couple of putts lipped out.
May 7th 2016 saw the introduction of our first Gents singles stableford event, the James Braid singles. What a turnout and what a competition, played in beautiful sunny weather. The event was won by away player A Dunne who scored an unmatchable 40 points on the day. 2nd place was taken by Helsbys own and Captains Prize holder, Phil Jones, who recorded a respectable 37 points beating visiting player C Fallows into 3rd place on a card playoff.
